Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Band 6 Community Learning Disability Nurse to join East Renfrewshire HSCP. You will deliver specialist health checks, provide person-centred care and work with partners to improve access to services.

A live NMC pin is required, and you will operate within a large NHS organisation known for professional development. The role involves extensive community-based work, driving improvements in health outcomes and social inclusion, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Registered Learning Disability Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate ongoing professional development.
• Demonstrable relevant and significant experience in learning disability services or community nursing.
• Strong knowledge of learning disability practice, legislation, policy and community care principles.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist health checks, assessments and interventions to adults with learning disabilities.
• Develop, implement and evaluate person-centred care programmes for individuals with complex health needs.
• Work with primary care, acute services, local authorities and voluntary organisations to improve access to services.
• Provide professional leadership, supervision and support to junior nursing staff and students.
• Promote health improvement and social inclusion through education, advocacy and health promotion activities.
• Contribute to service development, clinical governance, quality improvement and audit activities.
• Act as a specialist resource for service users, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues.
