Job summary

Galliford Try is recruiting a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on major infrastructure projects, with responsibility for cost control, budgeting, forecasts and reporting. The role involves managing NEC contracts, compensation events and change control, while coordinating with clients and supply chain partners to deliver value.

The ideal candidate will have substantial civil engineering experience, exposure to public-sector schemes, and strong negotiation and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Experience on local authority or public-sector infrastructure schemes advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and change management.
• Experience managing project budgets, commercial reporting and subcontract packages.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive approach to managing commercial risk and driving project performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial function on infrastructure projects, ensuring effective cost control and financial performance.
• Manage budgets, forecasting, CVRs and commercial reporting.
• Oversee procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages.
• Administer NEC contracts and manage compensation events, variations and change control.
• Monitor commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
• Manage subcontractor payments, valuations, final accounts and contractual obligations.
• Work closely with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners.
• Support the successful delivery of project objectives through effective commercial governance and reporting.
