Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on local authority infrastructure schemes in Bedfordshire. This role suits an experienced commercial professional with NEC experience, client-facing skills and a proactive approach to risk management, delivering major infrastructure projects and reporting

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and change management.
• Experience managing project budgets, commercial reporting and subcontract packages.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management.
• Proactive approach to commercial risk and project performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial function on infrastructure projects, ensuring effective cost control and financial performance.
• Manage budgets, forecasting, CVRs and commercial reporting.
• Oversee procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages.
• Administer NEC contracts and manage compensation events, variations and change control.
• Monitor commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
• Manage subcontractor payments, valuations, final accounts and contractual obligations.
• Work closely with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners.
• Support the successful delivery of project objectives through effective commercial governance and reporting.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Commercial Manager to join Galliford Try, working on local authority infrastructure schemes, including one of the country's flagship infrastructure projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to play a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure works, taking responsibility for commercial performance, contract management and financial control.

Working alongside project delivery teams and key stakeholders, you will help ensure projects are delivered commercially successfully while managing risk, maximising value and maintaining robust contractual processes.

The position would suit a Commercial Manager with a strong civil engineering background who is comfortable operating in a client-facing environment and managing the commercial requirements of complex infrastructure schemes.
