Job summary

Kenton Black Limited is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on local authority infrastructure projects in Bedfordshire. The role focuses on financial control, contract management and robust reporting across significant schemes, including flagship national projects.

You will manage project budgets, oversee procurement, CVRs and compensation events, while ensuring effective governance and strong stakeholder engagement with clients and supply chain partners.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Experience in local authority, highways or public-sector infra is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and change management.
• Experience managing project budgets and subcontract packages.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial function across infrastructure projects.
• Manage budgets, forecasting, CVRs and commercial reporting.
• Oversee procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages.
• Administer NEC contracts, including compensation events, variations and change control.
• Monitor commercial risks and opportunities.
• Manage subcontractor payments, valuations and final accounts.
• Work closely with project teams, clients and supply chain partners.
• Support effective commercial governance and project delivery.
