Job summary

Reed is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function within the construction sector. The role carries overall responsibility for steering the commercial team, shaping growth, and delivering value across projects.

The successful candidate will guide surveying and estimating, oversee payment applications, cashflow, client relationships and risk management, and report directly to the Managing Director and Board. A strong background in electrical contracting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience leading commercial teams in construction or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of contracting terms, risk and value management.
• Proven ability to manage estimating teams and tender processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the commercial department across surveying and estimating.
• Provide strategic commercial direction and report to MD and Board.
• Drive profitability and cash generation across all projects.
• Oversee monthly applications for payment and manage cashflow.
• Review tender documents and contract orders; assess terms and risks.
• Take overall commercial responsibility for live projects and protect margins.
