As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll join a team of cost managers and project managers on various projects in the energy sector. Your role will support project teams with contract procurement documentation and the commercial administration of contracts during execution to ensure the safe, successful delivery of our clients' programs, projects, and business objectives.
The Quantity Surveyor provides professional commercial support to the project teams through efficient contract identification, procurement, and administration, as well as cost and risk management, and forecasting in support of the Project Execution Plans.
You should possess excellent interpersonal skills to build positive and effective relationships within project teams and with the wider client organization.
• Work independently within established financial systems to monitor and review project costs and variances on small commercial, regeneration, or residential projects to control cost variables.
• Deliver or assist in managing medium to large-scale cost projects or significant components of cost management assignments, ensuring delivery within deadlines.
• Understand and comply with business risk policies, raising concerns or issues with senior managers to prevent adverse impacts.
• Provide advice on risk management principles to ensure adherence to organizational processes.
• Analyze data to identify trends and prepare documentation such as delivery plans, supporting decision-making.
• Use knowledge and experience to review and improve existing cost and commercial management processes and policies, sharing insights and participating in service improvement initiatives.
• Interact with internal and external stakeholders, applying technical knowledge to ensure project delivery meets expectations.
• Offer technical advice and guidance within the area, supporting colleagues with cost management queries and sharing knowledge to enhance service quality.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, resolve issues, and ensure client satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Relevant professional qualification or chartered status with a recognized institution (e.g., RICS, CIPS, ICE, CIOB).
• Experience with the NEC suite of contracts.
• Experience in delivering analysis and insights.
• Strong self-management and prioritization skills, capable of working under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
