Job description

EQUANS is looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. The package includes a competitive salary, a company vehicle or allowance, bonus, and benefits.

The post holder can be based anywhere in the UK.

The role involves supporting the Commercial Director, auditing contracts, and ensuring contractual and company objectives are met. The Senior Commercial Manager will support operational teams across UK Nuclear Power Stations, providing contract management, profit improvement, and compliance oversight. They will manage stakeholder relationships including client representatives, operational teams, and support functions such as risk, finance, legal, and HR. They will also oversee a Commercial Manager based in Scotland.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying, monitoring, and reporting risks
  2. Supporting risk management at all levels
  3. Enhancing financial performance through contractual knowledge and root cause analysis
  4. Managing variation/change control to maximize revenue
  5. Handling confidential and commercially sensitive information
  6. Leading governance to ensure contractual and internal compliance
  7. Raising awareness of contractual responsibilities among colleagues
  8. Seeking efficiencies and service optimization
  9. Enforcing commercial compliance through audits and standards
  10. Supporting large-scale projects from bidding to delivery and closure
  11. Managing cash flow within the contract sector
  12. Negotiating and resolving disputes professionally and equitably, including managing contractual claims
  13. Ensuring governance over subcontractors
  14. Providing commercial support to account management teams
  15. Developing and delivering commercial proposals to secure or extend contracts, building relationships with client representatives, and managing risks in bidding processes

Candidate requirements:

  • Relevant commercial experience in sectors like FM/PFI
  • Degree or diploma in Surveying, Built Environment, or related fields
  • Knowledge of UK construction law
  • Excellent communication and financial analysis skills
  • Understanding of risk management and business assurance systems
  • Ability to pass a DBS Standard check
