The Opportunity

Our NWY Advisory Services team is recruiting a Senior Commercial Manager to join our well-established team. With offices in Leeds, Manchester, and Liverpool, you can choose your preferred location on a hybrid basis. As a Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the commercial and financial success of major construction and engineering projects. Your focus will be on ensuring financial success by managing internal processes and maintaining external relationships with customers, clients, and multidisciplinary colleagues.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective that encourages individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from respecting, sharing, and connecting diverse experiences, perspectives, and ideas. You will have opportunities to do socially useful work that is meaningful to Arup, your career, our members, and the communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

In this role, you will apply your knowledge of contract management to enhance project performance, focusing on insurances, programme, delay damages, key contract dates, and risk management. You will advise clients and colleagues on good commercial management to ensure successful project delivery. This involves understanding estimates, value engineering, supply chain management, valuing work, understanding costs, cost/value analysis, cash flow, change management, and commercial decision-making. You will also participate in project reviews, commercial discussions with clients and suppliers, ensure the execution of action items, and coach staff and multidisciplinary teams to enhance their commercial awareness and expertise.

Requirements:
  • Good contract experience, particularly with NEC4 contracts.
  • Experience working within a client organization, either directly or through colocation/secondment in high-profile and complex projects.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating main contracts throughout project development and execution.
  • Experience using contract administration platforms such as CEMAR and Asite to oversee and act on client communications and instructions.
  • Professional memberships (MRICS, MCInstCES, or MCIOB) are advantageous.
