Sustainability has been part of the Mulberry ethos since the brand's inception; in 2024, we proudly achieved B Corp Certification.

Today, we are a global brand, but our values remain the same; we are committed to improving our impact on people and the planet. If these are values you share, we would love you to join our team.

The Role:

You will play a critical role in driving the financial reporting and controls of the Group. Working closely with all budget holders and the senior leadership team, the role will be responsible for all management accounting in the region and for the Group, providing high-quality periodic analysis of the financials, business performance, and offering recommendations and challenge where necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the periodic management accounting of the UK and EMEA regions, including all head office cost centres, working closely with the commercial teams to ensure accuracy and robustness.
  2. Manage and develop the management accounts function.
  3. Provide expert financial and commercial advice to operational management, including insights and analysis on performance, risks, opportunities, KPIs, and trends.
  4. Responsible for all periodic management accounts and group reporting to Excom and the PLC Board, including variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, and providing insights to support decision-making.
  5. Lead and define the process for standardised reporting across the group, including how this is shared and presented monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  6. Lead and develop the team, providing clear direction, objectives, and priorities.
  7. Lead monthly review meetings with stakeholders to review financial performance, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  8. Responsible for all group reporting to the PLC Board and investor relations reporting.
  9. Develop and maintain management accounting policies and procedures.
  10. Oversee budgeting and forecasting for the UK and EMEA regions and head office cost centres.
  11. Support the year-end audit process.
  12. Provide ad hoc support to the finance team and wider business as required.
  13. Culture:

    - Embrace and demonstrate Mulberry values: honesty, dynamism, and community spirit.

    - Support an inclusive culture by being open-minded and respectful.

    - Act as an ambassador for Mulberry and communicate positively about the brand.

    Sustainability:

    - Incorporate environmentally responsible practices and support the ‘Five C’s’ strategy: Climate, Cultivation, Craft, Culture, Circularity.

    - Foster an environment of diversity, inclusion, and equity, demonstrating these commitments internally and externally.

    Skills & Experience Required:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or extensive commercial experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to challenge and drive alignment.
  • Ability to structure complex information for stakeholder understanding.
  • Commercial focus aligned with business profitability and growth objectives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, maintaining composure in conflicts.
  • Innovative, proactive, and solution-oriented with a track record of delivering projects.
  • Data analysis skills with high attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet peaks and ad-hoc projects.
  • Organized and proactive work approach.
