Job summary

Taylor Hobson is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer in the United Kingdom to join our Machine Shop. You will program, set and operate CNC turning and milling machines to produce high-precision components in line with engineering drawings and customer specs.

• 5 years in a similar role
• Experience in a precision engineering/manufacturing environment
• Strong CNC programming and operating experience
• Experience with Matsuura CNC machinery is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate CNC turning, milling and mill-turn machines to manufacture high-precision components in accordance with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
• Produce components to tight tolerances and exacting quality standards, ensuring on-time delivery to agreed production schedules.
• Prepare, set up and maintain CNC machines in accordance with established procedures, work instructions and machine specifications.
• Select, install and adjust tooling as required, making precise offsets and machine adjustments to achieve dimensional accuracy and optimum machining performance.
• Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing documentation to ensure components are produced correctly and efficiently.
• Utilise ISO programming principles to create, modify and optimise CNC milling and turning programs for production requirements.
• Conduct in-process and final inspection of components using measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges and CMMs.
• Adhere to all company quality standards, manufacturing procedures, and Health & Safety requirements, maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
• Collaborate with Cell Leaders, Production Planning, Quality and Engineering teams to achieve production targets and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve machine utilisation, cycle times, tooling performance and process efficiency.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records in line with company and customer requirements.
• Support the delivery of exceptional product quality and customer satisfaction through a proactive and quality-focused approach.
• Contribute positively to team performance, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of best practices across the Machine Shop.
• Experience of programming and operating Matsuura CNC machinery is highly desirable.
