Job summary

Dover Precision Components in Glasgow is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate multi-axis machinery, reading blueprints and process sheets to produce precision components. You will set up, program, and inspect parts using advanced controls and measurement tools in a lean manufacturing setting.

The role requires a time-served apprenticeship or SVQ/NVQ Level 3 with 5+ years of CNC experience, proficiency in Fanuc, Mazak, Heidenhain or Haas, and tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in a machining discipline or SVQ/NVQ level 3 or HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating CNC machine tools in a lean-manufacturing environment.
• Experience with multi-axis milling/turning/grinding; hold tight tolerances <0.0025 mm.
• Proficient with machine controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, Heidenhain or Haas.
• Skilled with precision inspection tools: micrometres, calipers, height and bore gauges.

Responsibilities

• Read process sheets, blueprints and sketches to determine machining needs.
• Locate and download programs from a DNC storage system and run them.
• Select tooling, set up operations and calculate feeds/speeds for various steels.
• Read/edit/write programs and verify tooling capabilities.
• Inspect finished components and ensure free action of moving parts.
