Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown in London is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build and evolve platform capabilities powering scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions.

You will apply platform engineering principles to create automated, reusable self-service solutions to improve developer experience and speed up delivery.

The role involves mentoring engineers, shaping technical direction, and collaborating across teams to deliver cloud-native solutions aligned with HL goals.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with public cloud services and cloud-native architectures, including networking, security, and governance.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker), and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
• Deep understanding of cloud security frameworks, identity management, and compliance standards (ISO, SOC, GDPR).
• Proven ability to design scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud solutions in enterprise environments.
• Strong analytical skills to resolve complex technical challenges and make strategic decisions.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a range of stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring or supporting the development of other engineers clearly.
