Job summary

Legal & General in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build and evolve cloud-native platforms with a strong emphasis on AWS serverless technologies and MongoDB. You will contribute to shaping technical direction, reduce complexity, and advance secure, scalable software across teams.

You will mentor engineers, apply clean coding practices, and drive improvements in testing, deployment, and operational reliability, while aligning with SSDLC and business goals.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in modern software engineering with clean code and architecture.
• Experience delivering serverless solutions on AWS using Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Deep MongoDB experience, SQL and NoSQL knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Owning the design and delivery of high-quality software solutions, end-to-end across features, services, and systems.
• Building and operating cloud-native, serverless applications on AWS with a focus on security, resilience, and cost optimization.
• Lead by example with clean code and architectural best practices aligned with SSDLC and strategy.
• Identify and address technical debt to improve long-term maintainability and operability.
• Define and influence test strategies emphasizing security, accessibility, and reliability.
• Perform and lead code reviews to raise quality and team capability.
• Drive continuous improvement in processes, tooling and ways of working.
