Legal & General is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve cloud-native platforms. You will drive secure, scalable solutions on AWS, with a strong focus on serverless technologies and MongoDB, while mentoring peers in an Agile environment.

The role emphasizes reducing technical debt, improving reliability, and shaping technical direction to deliver meaningful business outcomes for our customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with modern patterns and cloud-native design.
• Experience delivering serverless solutions on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway).
• Deep MongoDB knowledge including aggregation pipelines and schema design.
• Experience with TDD, CI/CD, containers, and operational excellence.
• Security-first mindset with cloud fundamentals and compliance awareness.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with stakeholders in Agile teams.
• Proven problem-solver who balances delivery with system health.

Responsibilities

• Own design and delivery of high-quality, secure software across services and systems.
• Build and operate cloud-native, serverless apps on AWS with cost and performance focus.
• Advise on architecture, reduce technical debt, and improve engineering practices.
• Define test strategies emphasizing security, accessibility, and reliability.
• Lead code reviews and promote continuous improvement in tooling and processes.
• Mentor engineers and foster collaboration across teams.
• Stay current with cloud/data trends and share insights across the engineering community.
• Ensure customer outcomes align with Treating Customers Fairly and SSDLC.
