Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Pharmacist based at University Hospital Crosshouse.
What you will do:
We are looking for a suitably experienced pharmacist who is a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic individual for this role, where you will lead, develop, and deliver prescribing and pharmaceutical care to the Ayrshire & Arran Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
You will provide expert advice in pharmaceutical matters and promote safe, clinically effective, and cost-effective prescribing for this patient group in primary and secondary care. You will also act as an independent prescriber within the CAMHS outpatient setting, liaising with healthcare professionals regarding ongoing patient care.
This post will also provide a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service to child and adolescent patients with mental health disorders within the National Secure Adolescent Inpatient Service (NSAIS) unit when operational.
In addition to providing this service, you will contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of pharmaceutical services to CAMHS patients, including implementing relevant mental health legislation. You will be accountable for the safe and cost-effective use of medicines within the designated areas and promote local initiatives to improve medicines management.
You will work closely with primary care to identify and prioritize prescribing indicators related to CAMHS and develop joint working plans to ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication use. You should have a passion for high-quality patient care and the ability to build strong, professional relationships with the multidisciplinary team and pharmacy colleagues.

Knowledge, training, and/or experience required:
You will play a key role within the mental health pharmacy team, requiring strong leadership and management skills. The role demands autonomy, responsibility, innovation, and forward-thinking in clinical and service development. Self-direction, confidence, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Good communication, organizational, and IT skills, along with the ability to work effectively with patients and healthcare professionals, are necessary. Previous mental health experience is desirable but not essential.
You must be a qualified pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, an independent prescriber, and hold a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or demonstrate equivalent competence.

Hours:
