The successful candidate will work in the Women and Children's division at NUH, which is part of the Barts Health NHS Trust; one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK.
To be considered, you must have full GMC Registration and hold MRCPCH or equivalent. You should have appropriate training and experience in general paediatrics and neonatology.
The Paediatric Rainbow Centre is a busy department caring for a diverse and young paediatric population. It features a 21-bed paediatric ward, including 7 cubicles, a 2-bed well-equipped HDU unit, and a 6-bed day care ward for minor surgeries for children over 3 years. The department also includes a 6-bed observational unit and a total of 23 beds, including 2 intensive care beds and 4 HDU care beds.
The Level II Neonatal Unit cares for babies born after 27 weeks of gestation, working collaboratively with the tertiary unit at the Royal London Hospital. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to manage their workload efficiently and work well under pressure. The post is based at Newham University Hospital, which provides acute general paediatrics and neonatal services to one of Britain's most diverse and rapidly growing populations.
This Trust Clinical Fellow post is suitable for doctors pursuing a career in Paediatrics and neonatal care. The Trust supports career development in Paediatrics. This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 6 months and is a trust grade position.
Day-time Clinical Duties:
Ward rounds, cover for ambulatory units, outpatient clinics, A&E, labor ward, and postnatal ward, all under consultant supervision on a consultant-of-the-week basis.
On-call Commitment:
Full shift system with a rota of 7, covering NICU, delivery suite, postnatal, and paediatric wards, as well as A&E. A separate registrar rota exists for paediatric and neonatal services, including consultants, registrars, and SHOs.
Audit and Research:
The appointee will participate in departmental audits, contribute to clinical service guidelines, and support SHOs in these activities. Engagement in research related to service delivery and the chosen specialty is encouraged, with a research registrar facilitating audits and research activities.
