We are seeking a Junior Hand Fellow in Plastic Surgery to join the registrar rota at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust for a fixed term from 06/08/2025 to 04/08/2026.
The position is based at both Charing Cross and St Mary's sites, offering diverse experience. The department specializes in microsurgical reconstruction, including head and neck, breast, and extremity reconstruction, and supports the Level 1 Major Trauma Centre at St Mary's Hospital. The department manages general Plastic Surgery patients, focusing on tertiary referrals, performing between 200-250 free flaps annually.
This role is suitable for those aspiring to a career in Plastic Surgery, previously held by early trainees. It is not a formally accredited training post, but includes Consultant-led education and supervision, supporting professional development. Applicants should have MRCS or equivalent.
The ideal candidate will have some prior experience in Plastic Surgery, preferably at Registrar level, and must be registered and licensed with the General Medical Council.
The duties encompass working across three hospitals within the Trust, participating in the Specialist Registrars' rota, and collaborating with Consultants on routine and emergency cases. Responsibilities include managing admitted patients, participating in ward rounds, supporting emergency surgeries, and attending outpatient clinics. Teaching and supervision are integral parts of the role, with adherence to clinical protocols.
To develop clinical and surgical expertise in Plastic Surgery, noting this is not a recognized training post.
