Job summary

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to translate clinical information into ICD10 and OPCS4 codes across multiple specialties. You will work closely with clinicians to explain coding standards, verify data, and contribute to data quality and financial revenue for the Trust.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level in Mathematics and English.

Responsibilities

• Abstract clinical information to translate into ICD10 and OPCS4 codes.
• Liaise with wards to collect source data.
• Ensure coded data is complete and accurate for revenue and mortality indicators.
• Mentor less experienced coders and support training.
• Plan and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and department targets.
• Attend meetings to discuss coding issues and data quality.
• Keep ICD/OPCS books up to date with latest guidance.
• Resolve coding queries and escalate when needed.
• Stay updated with national guidance on coding practices.
• Cover workload in absence and support team development.
