Job description

Clinical Coder post in the Clinical Coding Department at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which is investing in the team. The role centres on extracting and translating inpatient information using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications, data that feeds Trust management and the National Tariff Payment System. Home working is available under the department's own agreement, subject to Trust and department criteria. Applicants need at least two years' coding experience and the NCCQ qualification.

What the job involves

• Extract and translate inpatient information using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications
• Maintain accurate clinical coding quality while managing own workload
• Interact with clinicians and operational staff

Qualifications

• NCCQ National Clinical Coding Qualification

Experience

• At least 2 years coding using ICD-10 and OPCS classifications
• NHS experience

Skills & knowledge

• Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
• Interest in developing knowledge of medical terminology
• Knowledge of electronic patient record (EPR) systems

Nice to have

• Reliable

• GCSE Biology, Human Biology, or basic physiology and anatomy qualification
