Job summary

Markel Service in Leeds is seeking a Senior Claims Handler to join the Liability & Construction Complex Claims Team. You will own a diverse portfolio of complex commercial claims from notification to resolution, collaborating with insureds, brokers and legal representatives.

The role offers hybrid working: 4 days in the office and 1 day at home, with a clear ownership of claims lifecycle and opportunities to pursue ACII qualifications and advanced training.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial insurance or legal claims experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive and analytical approach to problem solving.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Genuine interest in complex claims and specialist insurance products.

Responsibilities

• Manage portfolio of complex commercial claims from notification through to settlement.
• Review policy coverage and provide technical guidance.
• Develop and drive claims strategy.
• Instruct and manage external solicitors, counsel and technical experts.
• Build strong relationships with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders.
• Manage litigated claims and oversee legal spend.
• Negotiate settlements within authority levels.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the wider claims function.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and technical excellence.
