Markel International is seeking a Senior Claims Handler to join our Liability & Construction Complex Claims Team in Leeds. You’ll own a portfolio of high-profile commercial claims from notification through resolution, working with insureds, brokers and legal representatives to develop strategy and drive outcomes.

This role offers a hybrid working pattern (4 days in the Leeds office, 1 day from home) with a competitive base salary, 17% annual bonus, extensive development support including ACII

Qualifications

• Experience handling complex commercial claims in insurance or legal sectors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with brokers, clients and legal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of complex commercial claims from notification through to settlement.
• Review policy coverage and provide technical guidance.
• Develop and drive claims strategy.
• Instruct and manage external solicitors, counsel and experts.
• Build strong relationships with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders.
• Manage litigated claims and oversee legal spend.
• Negotiate settlements within authority levels.
• Support continuous improvement across the wider claims function.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and technical excellence.
