Job summary

Matchtech Group seeks a Senior Civil Site Engineer to join a dynamic Construction and Project delivery team handling large-scale water infrastructure projects. The role covers setting out, survey, and coordination across earthworks, drainage, structures, and highways.

You will lead engineering delivery, supervise teams, and ensure drawings and records are accurate for handover. A strong CDM understanding and UK driving licence are essential, with ICE accreditation or progression viewed favorably.

Qualifications

• Requires civil engineering degree or equivalent; professional accreditation or progression toward ICE is desirable.
• Experience delivering civil engineering works on large-scale projects.
• Water sector or utilities infrastructure experience preferred.
• Strong CDM knowledge and site safety principles.
• Full UK driving licence required; Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or progress toward it is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full site engineering function: setting out, dimensional control, verification, and surveying.
• Manage engineering teams to ensure accurate execution of works.
• Validate primary control and resolve discrepancies in design information and site conditions.
• Oversee installation activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specs, tolerances and standards.
• Maintain survey/set-out equipment with calibration/testing regimes.
• Produce technical sketches, calculations and records to support construction.
• Ensure drawing registers and documentation are controlled and up-to-date.
• Lead as-built surveys, red-line drawings, and handover documentation.
• Conduct quality inspections, close NCRs, promote right-first-time quality.
• Support Technical Assurance reviews for design compliance and correct installation.
• Prepare Safe Systems of Work, RAMS and Permits to Work.

Our client, a leader in the water sector, is currently seeking a Senior Civil Site Engineer to join their team. This permanent role is part of a dynamic Construction and Project delivery team handling large-scale water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the full site engineering function, including setting out, dimensional control, verification, and survey activities.
• Manage engineering teams to ensure accurate execution of works.
• Validate primary control and resolve discrepancies in design information and site conditions.
• Oversee installation activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, tolerances, and standards.
• Maintain and manage survey/setting‑out equipment, including calibration and testing regimes.
• Produce technical sketches, calculations, and engineering records to support construction activities.
• Ensure drawing registers and technical documentation are controlled and up‑to‑date.
• Lead the production of accurate as‑built surveys, red‑line drawings, and handover documentation.
• Conduct quality inspections, close out NCRs, and promote a "right‑first‑time" approach.
• Support Technical Assurance reviews, ensuring design compliance and correct installation.
• Prepare, brief, and implement Safe Systems of Work, including RAMS and Permits to Work.
• Act as or support the Temporary Works Coordinator, ensuring compliance with procedures.
• Track progress through measurement, quantity reporting, and verification of installed works.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Designers, Supply Chain, Supervisors, and Ensure digitally captured as‑built information supports handover and asset information requirements.

Job Requirements:

• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Accreditation (e.g. ICE) or working towards.
• Experience leading engineering delivery on civil engineering projects.
• Experience across earthworks, drainage, structures, highways, utilities or water infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of CDM, construction safety legislation, and engineering control principles.
• SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely.
• CSCS
• Full UK driving licence.
• Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or working towards.
