Job summary

Blueprint Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of water infrastructure capital projects in the UK. You will work to ensure safe, efficient delivery and high-quality outcomes on clean water trunk mains and related works.

You will interpret drawings and specifications, set-out and survey works, coordinate construction activities, and support commissioning, testing and network integration while maintaining records and promoting a strong safety

Qualifications

• HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
• Experience delivering water infrastructure projects, ideally clean water trunk mains.
• Strong understanding of water industry standards and utility construction practices.
• Experience using setting-out equipment and surveying techniques.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of pressure testing, chlorination, and commissioning procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Set out and survey works for clean water trunk mains.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Coordinate construction activities including trenching, excavation, pipe laying, directional drilling and thrust boring.
• Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with design requirements and project specs.
• Support commissioning activities, pressure testing, chlorination, sampling and network integration.
• Maintain accurate site records, ITPs and as-built information.
• Promote health, safety, environmental and quality culture on site.
• Carry out site inspections, toolbox talks and ensure compliance with standards.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the successful delivery of water infrastructure capital projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team committed to maintaining and enhancing critical water networks while contributing to sustainable infrastructure improvements.

Working within a water and wastewater capital delivery environment, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

As a Site Engineer, you will provide technical expertise across a range of clean water infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include:

• Setting out and surveying works for clean water trunk main installations.
• Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Coordinating construction activities including:
• Trenching and excavation works.
• Pipe laying operations.
• Directional drilling and thrust boring.
• Valve installations, washouts, and air valves.
• Associated civil engineering activities.
• Monitoring site activities to ensure compliance with design requirements, project specifications, and industry standards.
• Working closely with project managers, design teams, subcontractors, and clients to resolve technical challenges.
• Supporting commissioning activities, pressure testing, chlorination, sampling, and network integration.
• Maintaining accurate site records, quality documentation, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and as-built information.
• Conducting material inspections and managing non-conformance processes, including corrective actions where required.
• Promoting a positive health, safety, environmental, and quality culture across all site activities.
• Carrying out site inspections, audits, toolbox talks, and supporting compliance with company and industry standards.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience delivering water infrastructure projects, ideally involving clean water trunk mains.
• Strong understanding of water industry standards and utility construction practices.
• Experience using setting-out equipment and surveying techniques.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of pressure testing, chlorination, and commissioning procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications and Certifications

• CSCS Card.
• SMSTS or SSSTS.
• First Aid at Work.
• Temporary Works Co-ordinator.
• Additional water industry or civil engineering certifications.
