Job summary

MWH Treatment seeks a Site Engineer to drive safe, efficient delivery of major water and wastewater projects across the region. You will set out, survey and supervise civil works, ensuring quality and coordination with subcontractors and on-site teams.

You will work with design, commercial and operational colleagues to support programme delivery, inspections and ITPs, while maintaining rigorous health, safety, and environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience on civil engineering/infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of setting out and surveying techniques.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and quality requirements in construction.

Job description

As a Site Engineer, you will play a key role in the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the region. Working alongside operational, commercial and design teams, you will be responsible for setting out, quality assurance, programme support and day-to-day coordination of site activities.

The role offers the opportunity to develop your technical and leadership skills while managing sections of work, supporting subcontractors and ensuring projects are delivered safely, right first time and in accordance with project specifications. You will contribute to quality management processes, inspection and test planning, site records, progress reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting out and surveying civil engineering works.
  • Supervising subcontractors and site operatives.
  • Completing quality inspections, ITPs and associated records.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate site documentation.
  • Supporting programme delivery and short-term planning.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues on site.
  • Working collaboratively with construction, commercial, quality and design teams.

We're looking for a motivated and proactive engineer who is passionate about delivering high-quality civil engineering projects and developing a long-term career within the construction industry. You will have experience in site-based civil engineering works, a strong understanding of health, safety and quality requirements, and the confidence to work collaboratively with operational teams, subcontractors and clients. You should be organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment. The ideal candidate will be keen to progress professionally, actively develop their technical competence and work towards professional recognition through ICE or a similar institution.

Essential Criteria
  • Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience working on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of setting out and surveying techniques.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and quality requirements within construction.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience within the water or wastewater sector.
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • SMSTS, SSSTS or equivalent site safety qualification.
  • Experience using digital construction tools and QA/QC systems.
  • Membership of ICE or another relevant professional institution.
  • Working towards Incorporate Engineer (IEng) status or equivalent.
