We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Engineer to support our regional Development Team in Cambridge, focusing on civil engineering for development.

You will work within a team supporting the production of designs and drawings for construction projects and technical reports for masterplanning in support of planning applications. You can expect to be active on several projects and client accounts at any given time. You will report to a senior member of the Development Team.

Responsibilities

Our team works on some of the most prestigious developments in the UK, and you will be helping deliver projects such as:

• HS2 Old Oak Common Station, London
• Aston Villa, Birmingham
• Bahrain International Sports City, Bahrain.
• Providing support in the delivery of concept studies/strategies with hands-on design, leading to planning applications, technical approval submissions, and construction drawing issuance
• Contributing to various development projects across sectors and clients
• Being active on multiple projects and client accounts simultaneously
• Supporting and guiding a team of experienced and developing technical staff
• Engaging in high-profile client interactions, stakeholder management, design team liaison (internal and external), and project management
• Ensuring project delivery aligns with budget, schedule, technical standards, and legal requirements, depending on experience

Your Team

• The Development Team is a well-established, high-performing discipline within the Planning and Development business unit, comprising over 800 colleagues focused on project delivery across the entire project lifecycle.
• Our vision is to be recognized as the strongest and best Development team in the industry, achieved through continuous improvement and a management structure based on four pillars: Technical Excellence, People, Clients, and Operational Excellence.
• We assist clients in promoting, implementing, and managing sustainable development, from pre-feasibility to planning consent; establishing development plans; and delivering multidisciplinary design from concept to construction.
• We collaborate with public/private land promoters, house builders, developers, architects, government, and local authorities, providing services such as civil engineering, highway design, utilities, energy planning, drainage, flood risk, site appraisal, due diligence, and strategic planning advice.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway design, drainage strategy, flood risk assessment, utility planning, and a good understanding of the development industry
• Knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, and building structures, as well as construction design procedures
• Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations, and construction drawings
• Familiarity with relevant design codes and standards, and experience preparing drawings for contracts and technical approvals
• Strong communication skills and awareness of current technical and sustainability guidance
• Proficiency with relevant software such as InfoDrainage, Civils 3D, and/or PDS
• Experience liaising with clients, professionals, authorities, and negotiating technical approvals and agreements
• Knowledge of legal processes, planning, design, and contract procedures related to development projects
• Postgraduate experience or nearing Chartership, with significant professional responsibility
