Senior Software Development Engineer, Alexa Endpoint Experiences

Join the team that brought you the Echo Show, a touch-screen enabled Alexa device that supports video calling, music, weather, and more! Our Echo Software team works on not only the Echo Show but other high-profile consumer electronics products including Fire TV, Kindle, and the Echo family of devices. We are looking for an exceptional software engineer to join us to bring innovative experiences to millions of customers. As a senior software engineer in the Alexa Endpoint Experiences team, you will help drive innovation by developing features that present innovative speech-backed visuals and experiences on our Echo Show, Echo Spot, and similar Alexa powered devices.
Specifically, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining new systems, partnering with other Amazon and third-party services and device teams as required. You will ensure that Alexa almost never drops her end of the conversation, delivering services that respond with minimal latency at Amazon scale. You may work on web services, APIs, large scale data infrastructure, machine learning, and more. If being at the forefront of new innovation for Alexa sounds exciting, we've love to talk to you!

Key job responsibilities
Building software that enables integration of Alexa voice and multi-modal services into compelling applications that run on millions of Echo family devices, and Alexa-enabled Devices.
Driving engineering best practices (e.g., Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, etc.) and setting high standards.
Constant focus on energy efficiency, memory efficiency to deliver consistently better product while reducing customer’s cost and energy footprint.
Taking a long-term view of architecture, proactively fixing deficiencies with constant improvement of end product.
Contributing to the professional development of colleagues, improving their technical knowledge and engineering practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
