Job summary

Harken Search Ltd. is partnering with a leading 5* housebuilder in Berkshire to appoint an Engineer or Senior Engineer to join the Technical team across infrastructure and groundworks for residential developments.

The Senior Engineer will oversee design, stay aligned with programme milestones, and work closely with external consultants and statutory bodies to ensure compliant, cost-effective solutions. A strong background in civil/structural design and proficiency with Autodesk are required.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering-related discipline with around 5 years’ experience.
• Background in civil or structural design, ideally within a consulting engineering environment.
• Strong coordination and communication skills, with confidence dealing with statutory bodies.
• Proficient with engineering design software, particularly Autodesk; PDS or MicroDrainage experience beneficial.
• Pension is provided.

Responsibilities

• Procure service records and manage utilities enquiries for new developments, ensuring timely payment and coordination of new infrastructure.
• Oversee external Consulting Engineers producing designs for foundations, estate roads, sewers, and all external works, including S38, S104, and S278 submissions.
• Secure adoption agreements (S38, S104, S278) in line with programme milestones, ensuring bonds are arranged, monitored, reduced, and closed out efficiently.
• Contribute to structural design requirements for superstructure elements.
• Conduct ongoing evaluation and peer review of consultant designs to ensure best‑value engineering and statutory compliance.
• Liaise with the wider Technical Team to support the discharge of planning conditions and building regulations.
