Job summary

Strata Consulting Limited seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to join its Midlands in-house team, delivering high-quality residential infrastructure. You will own design from concept through to completion, coordinating highways, drainage and earthworks alongside land, planning and construction colleagues.

Applicants should be Chartered or working towards chartership, with strong communication and stakeholder skills.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in residential development or infrastructure design.
• Strong understanding of highways and drainage design.
• Working knowledge of Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 agreements.
• Proficient in Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design residential infrastructure schemes including highways, drainage and earthworks.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, reports and calculations.
• Manage the adoption process for roads and sewers (S38, S278 and S104 agreements).
• Liaise with local authorities, statutory undertakers and external stakeholders.
• Support planning applications and detailed design submissions.
• Collaborate closely with technical, land and construction teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers where appropriate.
• Assist in identifying value engineering opportunities across developments.

Are you a Senior Civil Engineer looking to move beyond consultancy and see your designs come to life?

Our client, a well-established residential developer based in Birmingham, is looking to strengthen its in-house engineering team with the appointment of a Senior Civil Engineer.

Unlike many developers who outsource design work, this business has invested heavily in an in-house civil engineering capability. You'll play a key role in the design and delivery of major residential developments, working closely with land, planning, technical and construction teams from concept through to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity to influence schemes from the earliest stages, take ownership of infrastructure design and help create high-quality residential communities across the Midlands.
