Job summary

Kitson Associates is recruiting a Senior Engineer to lead engineering design on new build housing across several developments in the East Midlands. You will own technical deliverables from land opportunity through to adoption, coordinating with land, planning, technical and construction teams.

The role offers hybrid working in Leicestershire and a salary up to £70,000 plus a bonus, with opportunities to progress within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Sound knowledge of Section 38, 104 and 278 agreements and adoption process.
• Experience in drainage design, highways and external works.

Responsibilities

• Carry out engineering appraisals and due diligence on land opportunities, including abnormal cost assessments.
• Produce and manage engineering designs and layouts, including drainage, highways, levels and earthworks strategies.
• Appoint, brief and manage external consultants to deliver designs on time and budget.
• Prepare and negotiate Section 38, 104 and 278 agreements with local authorities and water companies.
• Support planning applications and discharge of conditions with planning, technical and commercial teams.
• Provide technical support to site teams during construction and resolve engineering issues.

Senior Engineer- New Build Housing

Leicestershire/hybrid working

Kitson Associates are working with a well-established housebuilder based in Leicestershire to recruit an experienced Senior Engineer.

You’ll take ownership of the engineering design on several residential developments, from land acquisition right through to adoption, working closely with the land, technical and construction teams.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out engineering appraisals and due diligence on potential land opportunities, including abnormal cost assessments
• Produce and manage engineering designs and layouts, including drainage, highways, levels and earthworks strategies
• Appoint, brief and manage external consultants, making sure designs are delivered on time and to budget
• Prepare and negotiate Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 agreements with local authorities and water companies
• Manage utility applications, diversions and new connectionsWork closely with the land, planning, technical and commercial teams to support planning applications and discharge of conditions
• Provide technical support to site teams during construction and resolve engineering issues as they come up
• Take developments through to adoption and bond release
• Keep up to date with building regulations, NHBC standards and industry best practice
• Support and mentor junior members of the technical team

What you’ll need

• Currently working for a housebuilder or developer (essential)
• A minimum of around 3 years’ engineering experience in residential development
• A degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Sound knowledge of Section 38, 104 and 278 agreements and the adoption process
• Experience of drainage design, highways and external works
• Confident managing consultants, contractors and local authority relationships
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of build costs and abnormals
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage several sites at once
• Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design software (desirable)
• Full UK driving licence
