Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior/Principal Civil Engineer to lead delivery of water sector projects across the UK and internationally, shaping design and client outcomes.

You'll manage multi-disciplinary teams, mentor graduates, and contribute to future-ready initiatives while advancing your Chartered status. This role offers hybrid working with opportunities to work from our offices and on landmark projects globally.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered status or significant progression towards ICE/CIWEM membership.
• Experience leading engineering design teams including civil engineers and related disciplines.
• Experience delivering projects within identified budgets and schedules.
• Experience as a checking/technical approval role on civil infrastructure projects or industrial/design systems.
• Experience mentoring junior civil engineers to develop skills.
• Client-facing experience.
• Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership for all aspects of project delivery including health & safety, technical, quality, schedule and budget.
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams.
• Shape delivery of services and identify opportunities to offer complementary services within WSP UK/overseas.
• Build relationships with clients to ensure project outcomes and satisfaction.
• Contribute to identification and delivery of innovative approaches, new services and digital products.
• Contribute to Future Ready and Net Zero programme implementation.
• Act as an ambassador for best practice within the Asset Design team and client initiatives.
• Undertake bid preparation, resource and budget development.
• Line manage and support the professional development of graduate engineers and degree apprentices.
• Contribute to recruitment and growth of the civil engineering team.
• Continue development of technical, managerial and leadership skills.
