Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead delivery of water sector projects in the UK and internationally. You will own safety, quality, schedule and budget, line-manage engineers, and help shape service delivery across the Asset Design team.

With a degree in Civil Engineering and Chartered status or progress toward it, you will mentor teams, manage bids, and collaborate with clients to achieve outcomes. Hybrid work and career development are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering and chartered status or significant progression toward ICE/CIWEM.
• Experience leading civil engineering design teams including multiple disciplines.
• Delivery of projects within budget and schedule targets.
• Mentoring or coaching junior civil engineers.
• Client-facing with strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of project delivery including health, safety, technical quality, schedule and budget.
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams.
• Shape service delivery and identify opportunities for wider WSP work.
• Build relationships with clients to ensure outcomes and satisfaction.
• Contribute to innovation, new services and digital solutions.
• Contribute to Future Ready and Net Zero programmes.
• Lead bid preparation and resource planning.
• Line manage graduate engineers and degree apprentices.
• Support recruitment and growth of the civil engineering team.
• Develop technical, managerial and leadership capabilities.
