Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join the Place and Growth, Highways and Transport team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will manage highways capital projects, liaise with clients, and deliver high-quality technical outputs to UK standards.

You will lead resources, plan milestones, and ensure governance compliance while supporting construction and site visits. A relevant engineering degree and substantial highways experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience using Civils 2D/3D software to produce highway plans.
• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering subject.
• Knowledge of national/international highway standards (DMRB, SHW, Manual for Streets).
• 4+ years’ experience delivering projects from concept design through construction.

Responsibilities

• Produce highways design to UK standards and write technical reports.
• Liaise with internal and external clients, answer queries and manage issues.
• Record costs and benefits, manage risks and track actions.
• Develop clear project plans and delivery timescales.
• Undertake site visits and support the construction process.
• Coordinate with surveyors, consultants and contractors.
