Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council invites applications for a Senior Civil Engineer within the Place and Growth, Highways and Transport team. This permanent, full-time role focuses on project management and delivery of highways capital works, with independent leadership and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience using Civils 2D (essential) & 3D (desirable) software to produce Highway plans.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering subject.
• Sound working knowledge of national/international highway standards (DMRB, SHW, Traffic Signs Manual, Manual for Streets).
• Experience managing projects from concept design through to construction with at least 4 years’ experience.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities

• Technical design to UK standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets) and professional reports.
• Liaise with clients and manage queries to deliver improved services and savings.
• Record costs and benefits, manage risks/issues per Corporate Risk Management policy.
• Prepare clear project plans and delivery timescales, administer meetings, and track progress.
• Undertake site visits and support construction, coordinating with surveyors and contractors.
