Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join the Place and Growth, Highways, and Transport team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will lead on design and delivery of highways capital works, manage stakeholders, and produce technical reports to UK standards.

You will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, substantial highways project experience, and strong Civils 2D/3D skills, with the ability to plan resources and align outputs with governance and risk

Qualifications

• Experience in overseeing highways projects from concept to construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering subject.
• Knowledge of national/international highway standards (DMRB, SHW, Manual for Streets).
• Minimum 4 years’ experience delivering projects.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-standard technical reports and designs to UK standards.
• Manage costs, benefits, and project risks in line with policy.
• Coordinate with surveyors, consultants and contractors.
• Plan resources to maximise fee income and utilisation.
• Support construction and undertake site visits.
