We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Place and Growth, Highways, and Transport team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a Permanent, Full-Time basis.
As Senior Civil Engineer, you will provide project management services and support strategic programmes and activities within the Capitals team, responsible for the design and delivery of all highways capital works. You'll work independently and pro-actively, leading on the delivery of key objectives, managing stakeholders, and delivering high-quality outputs and outcomes with minimal supervision.
This role involves assisting in the planning and organisation of resources to maximise fee income and utilisation, technical design to relevant UK standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets), and producing high-standard professional written technical reports. You'll liaise with internal and external clients, answer queries and respond to technical issues, identify key outputs and milestones for decision, report to governance forums, track and monitor actions, and ensure adherence to WBC and supplier processes.
Additional responsibilities include undertaking site visits, supporting the construction process, managing interdependencies across council change programs, liaising with surveyors, consultants and contractors, recording and tracking costs and benefits, creating learning logs, and managing risks and issues in line with Corporate Risk Management policy.
