Job summary

ChampionX, soon to be SLB after integration, seeks a Senior Chemist in Aberdeen, UK. You will lead laboratory testing and analysis for oilfield production systems and help develop novel products for field deployment.

You will collaborate across disciplines, write technical reports, manage projects, provide field support, and uphold safety practices per COSHH and lab protocols.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or related field with lab research experience.
• Experience with oilfield chemical projects is preferred.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Experience with DOE is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead laboratory testing and analysis to support project requests.
• Conduct chemical testing for oilfield production systems.
• Develop and screen novel products for field deployment.
• Write technical reports and maintain data records.
• Provide field support remotely or onsite as needed.
• Ensure lab safety, COSHH compliance and test protocols.

In this this role you will have the chance to take the lead on laboratory testing/analysis and apply the findings in oil and gas production systems. There will be the opportunity to develop novel products for deployment in the field in addition to new testing methodologies for both in field monitoring and laboratory analysis. What You Will Do:

• Project management
• Adhere to all safety protocols for ChampionX
• Conducting laboratory tests to complete project requests
• Screening and/or assisting with developing products
• Technical report writing
• Database management
• Learning product applications
• Providing field support either remotely or onsite
• Maintaining cleanliness and housekeeping of the laboratory
• Maintain calibration records for equipment
• Implement and follow company safety practices, use COSHH and Risk assessments for all chemicals and tasks performed in the lab, and maintain test protocols

Minimum Qualifications:

• BSc Hons, MSc in a Chemistry or related subject and experience in multiple facets of the oilfield chemical related product range
• Previous experience of working with oilfield chemical related projects.
• Previous experience of working in a laboratory and managing research projects
• 2 years related experience, depending upon educational level, preferably in oilfield production chemistry environment.
• Good computer skills, must have experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, DOE optional
• Good oral and written communication skills, speak and write English

Physical Demands:

• A mixture of office based and standard laboratory-based work
• Field work / visits may be required
