Job summary

ChampionX in Fawley, Southampton, seeks a Plant Operator to join our site operations. You will maintain a safe, orderly plant, operate blending units, and contribute to continuous safety improvements on the Fawley refinery site.

The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a willingness to work night shifts and weekend rotation as part of the schedule. Training will be provided for forklift operations and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Numeracy and literacy skills with strong attention to detail.

• Forklift driving is a requirement and training is provided.
• Team player with ability to adapt to changing scenarios and maintain safety

Responsibilities

• Maintain a tidy and safe working environment meeting Goal Zero and Life Critical Rules.
• Participate in Autonomous Maintenance to keep areas clean, orderly and in good condition.
• Suggest improvements to practices and procedures in your area of work.
• Follow all Quality and Safety procedures to ensure high-quality product is produced, shipped and received on time.
• Operate blending units safely at the Fawley site, maintaining quality, housekeeping and environmental standards.
• Be aware of the Permit to Work system on the Fawley site.
• Know safety and emergency procedures to support site response in incidents.

What You Will Do

• Maintain a tidy and safe working environment that meets the Goal Zero and Life Critical Rules set by the company.
• Take an active role in Autonomous Maintenance ensuring areas are maintained in an appropriate state of cleanliness/order and condition.
• Be able and active in making recommendations for improvements to practices and procedures in their area of work.
• To be aware of, understand and display all Quality and Safety procedures to ensure high quality product is produced, shipped and received by the customer on time.
• To be responsible for the safe operation of blending units on the Fawley site, ensuring quality, housekeeping and environmental standards are maintained at the highest level in accordance to company policy.
• To be aware of the Permit to Work system on the Fawley site.
• To be fully conversant with all safety and emergency procedures involving the Fawley Site such that they can become a member of the Site response Team and know what to do in the event of an incident/emergency - Emergency Preparedness.

Minimum Qualifications

• Numeracy and literacy skills are required, alongside a good attention to detail.
• Previous experience in Plant Operations.
• A team player who is keen to learn and able to adapt to changing scenarios while always maintaining and improving safety standards.
• Forklift driving is a requirement and the specific training for this is provided.

Physical Demands

• This role requires working in a chemical manufacturing plant and is based on the Fawley refinery.
• As part of your role, you are required to work a shift pattern that includes night shifts. You will also be expected to participate in the weekend duty technician rota as required by the business.

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

• Previous exposure to operating chemical blenders and reactors processes.
