Job summary

Hill Care is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Kitchen Assistant to join our team. You will assist the cook with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals to residents, ensuring freshly prepared meals are provided to a high standard and suitable for special dietary requirements.

Applicants should have a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and, preferably, a Food Safety Level 2 Certificate, or be willing to work towards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of meals.
• Participate in staff and client meetings as required.
• Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
• Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as required.
• Wash up after meals and ensure crockery/equipment are cleaned and stored.
• Ensure statutory Health and Safety standards in kitchen and dining areas.
• Report illness or accidents to Home Manager or Person in Charge.
• Follow Care Centre Health and Safety policies, emergency and fire procedures.
• Report faults to Home Manager or Handyperson and promote safe working practices.
• Promote the good reputation of the Care Centre.
• Protect confidentiality of information gained in the course of duty.
• Notify absence promptly and on return to work.
• Ensure security of the Care Centre.
• Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
• Ensure equipment is clean and well maintained.
• Carry out any other reasonably assigned tasks.
