Senior Care Assistant

Nights, 33 hours per week.

The role of a Senior Care Assistant is an important and valued position within the Health & Social Care industry.

You will lead, develop, and coordinate a team of care workers to provide the highest standards of care to our residents, ensuring that their dignity is always maintained.

Job Role: To support the Manager in the overall management of the home. You will assume responsibilities of the Manager in their absence. Create an environment that respects the rights and wishes of residents, encourages person-centred care, and maximizes independence.

The successful candidate will join a close-knit, friendly team committed to delivering quality service.

As a Senior Care Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding and providing for the health needs of residents and understanding the impact on clients and families when ongoing care is required.
  • Assisting residents with daily care needs they would normally undertake themselves if able.
  • Participating in holistic caring activities.
  • Providing care aimed at optimizing residents' independence.
  • Promoting residents' participation in care planning and reviews.
  • Managing care planning processes, including medication and care delivery for designated residents.
  • Respecting residents' rights to confidentiality.
  • Moving and handling, dressing, and assisting residents with hygiene and dressing.
  • Observing and reporting any changes in residents' conditions.
  • Reporting hazards or unsafe equipment to the Manager.
  • Attending mandatory in-service training and staff development sessions.
  • Ensuring care delivery complies with all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.

Desirable qualifications and experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 /MA Level 3 in Health and Social Care or working towards it.
  • Previous experience as a senior in a Residential Care or Nursing Home.
  • A passion for elderly care.
  • Experience with medication administration.
