Job summary

Agincare Weymouth is seeking a Senior Care Assistant at Waterloo care home to deliver high-quality, person-centred care in a welcoming team environment.

You will support residents with daily living activities, lead care reviews and participate in social activities, while developing your skills through funded training up to QCF level 5.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months right to work in the UK.
• Qualified to NVQ Level 2 or higher and working toward NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
• At least two years' experience in a social care environment, preferably with residents over 65.
• Good dementia knowledge and excellent communication with empathy.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred care including bathing, dressing and oral care.
• Conduct care reviews with residents to reflect their needs.
• Administer residents' medications safely and compliantly.
• Lead and participate in social activities and outings within the home.
• Support new staff and potentially lead the home in absence of senior managers.

What is required from you?

• A minimum of 12 months on your right to work in the UK
• Qualified to at least NVQ Level 2, and achieved or working towards NVQ level 3 (or equivalent)
• At least two years\' experience working in a social care environment - preferably with vulnerable people over 65
• Good demonstrable knowledge and experience of dementia
• Excellent communication skills and a real ability to show empathy to people under your care

Opportunities Available:

• Senior Care Assistant at 42 hours per week to work from 8am to 8pm to include alternative weekends
• Senior Night Care Assistant at 48 hours per week to work from 8pm to 8am to include alternative weekends

A day in the life of a Senior Care Assistant

• Person-centred care - You will ensure that residents receive personal care from you and your team including bathing, dressing and oral care within their preferences, and actively promote right to choice and independence
• Review - You will contribute to and carry out care reviews with your residents to ensure their plans reflect their needs.
• Medication - You will administer residents\' medication in a safe and supportive and compliant way
• Social Activity - You will lead in and participate in trips out, social engagements and activities within the home.
• Leadership - you may support new starters or existing staff with shadowing and development, and may be called up on to lead the home where more senior managers are not available.
