Job summary

Chetwynd House Care Home is a modern residential, dementia, respite and day care home in Chilwell, Nottingham. Featuring five beautifully designed care suites, exceptional facilities and lifestyle kitchens, we are passionate about delivering personalised care that promotes dignity, independence and wellbeing.

Senior Care Assistant Contract
  • £14.46 per hour
  • Contracted to 36 hours per week
  • Day or Night shifts available
  • Paid DBS, pension and uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Role Overview

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will lead by example, supporting the delivery of outstanding, person-centred care while providing guidance and supervision to the care team during your shift. You will help create a safe, compassionate and welcoming environment where residents are treated with dignity, respect and kindness at all times.

Working closely with the Care Manager and wider healthcare team, you will administer medication, support the development and review of care plans, carry out key worker responsibilities and ensure residents' care records remain accurate and up to date. You will monitor residents' physical and emotional wellbeing, respond promptly to changes in their condition and liaise with healthcare professionals to ensure their needs are met.

You will supervise and support Care Assistants throughout the shift, ensuring high standards of care are consistently maintained. You will assist with admissions, hospital transfers, accident reporting and risk assessments, while promoting residents' independence, encouraging participation in activities and supporting them during mealtimes, appointments and outings. You will also help maintain compliance with Health & Safety, safeguarding, infection prevention and regulatory standards, contributing to a positive and supportive team culture.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.

What We Are Looking For
  • Previous experience as a Senior Care Assistant, Team Leader or experienced Care Assistant within a care home or healthcare setting.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (essential), with a willingness to achieve NVQ Level 3.
  • Competent in medication administration and maintaining accurate medication records.
  • Experience supporting care planning, risk assessments and maintaining accurate care documentation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, mentor and motivate a care team.
  • Good understanding of person-centred care, safeguarding, Health & Safety and infection prevention.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Compassionate, reliable and committed to delivering exceptional care with dignity and respect.
  • Dementia awareness or experience supporting people living with dementia is desirable.
