Job summary

The Old Vicarage Care Home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield, part of Care Concern Group, is hiring a Care Assistant to deliver person-centred care that promotes dignity and wellbeing. You will support residents with personal care, mobility, meals and daily living.

We offer £12.86 per hour, 33-44 hours per week, paid DBS, pension and uniform, plus 5.6 weeks annual leave and ongoing training with career progression in a supportive care environment.

Qualifications

  • Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Understanding of dignity, independence, equality and maintaining residents' confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to residents.
  • Support residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition and daily living.
  • Follow individual care plans and monitor wellbeing, reporting changes.
  • Maintain accurate care records and ensure a safe, clean environment.
  • Encourage participation in activities and assist with meals and appointments.

Job description

The Old Vicarage Care Home is a modern residential, dementia, respite and day care home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield. Surrounded by beautiful mature gardens and excellent facilities, our caring team provides personalised support that helps residents maintain independence, comfort and wellbeing.

Care Assistant Contract
  • £12.86 per hour
  • Contracted to 33-44 hours per week
  • Paid DBS, pension and uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Role Overview

As Care Assistant, you will make a meaningful difference in residents' lives by delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing.

You will support residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration and daily living, while following individual care plans and responding sensitively to their physical, emotional and social needs. You will monitor residents' wellbeing, promptly report any changes in condition and maintain accurate care records to support safe, consistent care.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will encourage residents to participate in activities, assist with meals, accompany them on appointments and outings where required, and help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment. You will follow Health & Safety, infection prevention and safeguarding procedures, ensuring residents remain at the heart of everything you do.

The successful candidates will be required to work alternate weekends.

What We Are Looking For

  • A reliable, positive and professional attitude with a commitment to delivering person-centred care.
  • Understanding of dignity, independence, equality and maintaining residents' confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, infection prevention and safe working practices.
  • Previous care or care home experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is desirable, or a willingness to work towards this qualification. The Care Certificate must be completed within the first three months if not already achieved.
