Job summary

Harrier House Care Home invites applications for a Care Assistant to deliver high-quality, person-centred care in a supportive team setting.

You will assist with personal care, mobility, nutrition and daily living while following care plans and reporting changes promptly to ensure resident wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Caring, compassionate approach to supporting older residents.
  • Clear communication with residents, families and team.
  • Ability to work calmly in a busy care environment and be reliable.
  • Knowledge of dignity, confidentiality and safeguarding in care.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety and infection prevention in daily tasks.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is desirable; Care Certificate completion within 3 months if not already achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred care and support residents with personal care.
  • Assist with mobility, meals, nutrition and daily living activities.
  • Follow individual care plans and report changes promptly to supervisors.

Job description

Harrier House Care Home is a modern residential, dementia, respite and day care home in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. Home to six beautifully designed care suites and outstanding lifestyle facilities, we provide a supportive environment where residents can enjoy meaningful experiences every day.

Care Assistant Contract
  • £12.85 per hour
  • Full time hours available
  • Paid DBS, pension and uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Role Overview

As Care Assistant, you will make a meaningful difference in residents' lives by delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing.

You will support residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration and daily living, while following individual care plans and responding sensitively to their physical, emotional and social needs. You will monitor residents' wellbeing, promptly report any changes in condition and maintain accurate care records to support safe, consistent care.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will encourage residents to participate in activities, assist with meals, accompany them on appointments and outings where required, and help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment. You will follow Health & Safety, infection prevention and safeguarding procedures, ensuring residents remain at the heart of everything you do.

Night shift - 7pm-7am 33hr & 44hr contracts, Day shift 7am-7pm 37.5hrs contracts.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.

What We Are Looking For
  • A caring, compassionate and respectful approach with a genuine passion for supporting older people.
  • Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work calmly in a busy environment and as part of a supportive team.
  • A reliable, positive and professional attitude with a commitment to delivering person-centred care.
  • Understanding of dignity, independence, equality and maintaining residents' confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, infection prevention and safe working practices.
  • Previous care or care home experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is desirable, or a willingness to work towards this qualification. The Care Certificate must be completed within the first three months if not already achieved.
