Job summary

Penrose Care Home in Biggleswade is seeking a Senior Care Assistant to lead and support the care team during each shift. You will deliver safe, person-centred care, oversee medication administration, monitor residents’ wellbeing and communicate clearly with families and healthcare professionals.

This role requires NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (Level 3 desirable), strong leadership and communication skills, and a compassionate, professional approach.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is required (minimum).
• Level 3 in Health & Social Care is desirable or willingness to work towards.

Job description

Situated in the residential area of Kings Reach in the market town of Biggleswade, our private, luxury care home offers several types of care for up to 65 residents.

Senior Care Assistant Contract

• £14.00 per hour
• Contracted to 44 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview
As Senior Care Assistant, you will guide and support your team in delivering safe, high quality, person centred care that makes a real difference every day to our residents.

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring care is well organised, consistent and delivered to a high standard. Alongside providing hands on care, you will oversee medication, monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond to any changes, ensuring care remains safe and appropriate.

You will maintain accurate care records and work closely with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals to ensure clear communication and continuity of care.

We Are Looking For

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum), with Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards
• Medication administration training with competency is essential
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• A caring, compassionate and professional approach
