Job summary

Amentum is recruiting a Senior Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join the team in Birchwood or Cumbria, working on major projects within a highly regulated environment.

You will lead C&I engineering across the project lifecycle, manage deliverables, and provide technical oversight of control systems and interfaces, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with suppliers. This role is expected to start later this year or early 2027.

Qualifications

• Degree in Control & Instrumentation, Electronic, Electrical & Electronic or equivalent, or demonstrable experience with HNC/HND.
• Professional registration or working toward Incorporated/Chartered Engineer status.
• Significant C&I experience in nuclear or other highly regulated industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of C&I engineering solutions across all project lifecycle phases from concept to handover.
• Produce, review and approve C&I deliverables in line with standards and client procedures.
• Manage the C&I design configuration baseline with controlled design changes.
• Provide technical oversight of control and instrumentation systems, functional safety and plant interfaces.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure design compliance and support testing and acceptance.
• Coordinate C&I activities with other disciplines via BIM and design reviews for system integration.
• Ensure designs meet safety case and project objectives, supporting verification and validation.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and graduates within the discipline.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover with technical leadership to resolve complex issues.
