Our Opportunity

Join Fortrea’s industry-leading Clinical Commercial team! We are hiring a Senior Business Development Director to support our strategic and key biotech accounts throughout Europe. You will play an integral role in our team, responsible for driving growth in this key customer segment.

The successful candidate will generate a broad opportunity pipeline by initiating conversations and nurturing client relationships. You will work closely with our Global Clinical Development BDDs to advance strategic opportunities and grow our market share.

We seek a motivated, self-starting individual who is competitive, collaborative, and possesses highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Summary of Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement sophisticated business development strategies to achieve growth objectives and meet sales targets for assigned accounts.
  2. Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with key clients and stakeholders to enhance engagement and strategic partnerships.
  3. Oversee the creation and delivery of compelling proposals aligned with client needs and company capabilities.
  4. Conduct market research to identify industry trends, growth opportunities, and competitive landscapes.
  5. Represent the company at industry events and executive meetings to promote our presence and capabilities.
  6. Manage business development processes, including sales pipeline management, performance analysis, and opportunity management.
  7. Collaborate across teams to ensure business development initiatives align with overall company strategy.
  8. Lead client presentations and participate in proposal scope development for comprehensive client solutions.
  9. Contribute to pricing strategies and margin determinations in collaboration with Client Services.
  10. Document client information and sales activities for accurate pipeline forecasting and internal communication.
  11. Perform additional duties as necessary to support business objectives and team success.
Qualifications (Minimum Required)
  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  2. Thorough knowledge of drug discovery and development principles to strategically generate leads.
  3. Excellent customer relationship management skills and commercial acumen.
  4. Experience developing and executing strategic business plans.
  5. Excellent negotiation skills with direct experience negotiating with major clients.
  6. Leadership experience in engaging with executives and senior client levels.
  7. Strong financial acumen with a record of delivering business results.
  8. Demonstrated executive presence and influencing skills at all organizational levels.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively within a matrixed team environment.
  10. Relevant experience or equivalent in lieu of educational requirements may be considered.
Experience (Minimum Required)
  1. Strong background in business development within CRO or pharmaceutical industry.
  2. Experience in senior leadership roles involving business development and client management.
  3. Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing high-value client accounts.
