Job summary

Currie & Brown in Manchester is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor / Associate Building Surveyor to lead professional and project-led instructions across public and private sectors. You’ll deliver contract administration, building surveys, dilapidations, defects analysis, refurbishment and maintenance, and design work with a focus on client relationships.

At Associate level you’ll lead major commissions, develop client relationships, mentor junior surveyors, and help grow the Manchester team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Surveying or related discipline.
• MRICS qualification, or close to chartership.
• Experience delivering building surveying services across sectors.
• Strong technical and report-writing skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Commercial awareness and project delivery experience.
• Collaborative and client-focused approach.
• Openness to career development, healthcare/education/industrial exposure advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Contract administration, surveys, due diligence, dilapidations.
• Defect analysis, refurbishment and maintenance, design work.
• Condition surveys, planned maintenance, project delivery from inception to completion.
• Client relationship management; lead major commissions at Associate level.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work across a broad mix of professional and project-led building surveying instructions, including:

• Contract administration
• Building surveys and technical due diligence
• Dilapidations
• Defect analysis and reporting
• Refurbishment and maintenance projects
• Design and specification work
• Condition surveys
• Planned maintenance programmes
• Project delivery from inception through to completion
• Client relationship management

At Associate level, you’ll also:

• Lead major commissions
• Develop client relationships
• Mentor and support junior surveyors
• Contribute to business growth initiatives
• Help shape the future of the Manchester team

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to speak with candidates who have:

• A degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline
• MRICS qualification, or are close to achieving chartership
• Experience delivering building surveying services across multiple sectors
• Strong technical and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

• Experience within healthcare, education, local authority, commercial or mixed‑use projects would be advantageous.
