Job summary

Currie & Brown in Plymouth are seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to work on a broad mix of professional and project-led instructions across public and private sectors. You’ll handle surveys, contract administration, dilapidations and refurbishment projects, with delivery from inception through to completion.

Ideal candidates hold a Building Surveying degree, MRICS or near chartership, strong report writing and stakeholder management skills, and a collaborative, client‑focused approach.

• Experience delivering building surveying services across multiple sectors.
• Strong report-writing and technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform surveys, contract administration, dilapidations and defect analysis.
• Lead refurbishment and maintenance projects from inception to completion.
• Develop and manage client relationships and expectations.
• Mentor junior surveyors and contribute to business growth.
• Assist in shaping the Manchester team and service delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work across a broad mix of professional and project-led building surveying instructions, including:

• Contract administration
• Building surveys and technical due diligence
• Dilapidations
• Defect analysis and reporting
• Refurbishment and maintenance projects
• Design and specification work
• Condition surveys
• Planned maintenance programmes
• Project delivery from inception through to completion
• Client relationship management

At Associate level, you'll also:

• Lead major commissions
• Develop client relationships
• Mentor and support junior surveyors
• Contribute to business growth initiatives
• Help shape the future of the Manchester team

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

• A degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline
• MRICS qualification, or are close to achieving chartership
• Experience delivering building surveying services across multiple sectors
• Strong technical and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Commercial awareness and project delivery experience
• A collaborative and client-focused approach
• A desire to develop and progress your career
• Experience within healthcare, education, local authority, commercial or mixed-use projects would be advantageous.
