Job summary

Currie & Brown Group Limited in Southampton is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to lead a diverse portfolio across Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset. You will deliver professional services from inception to completion, managing client relationships and project teams to ensure on-time, profitable outcomes.

You will work within our London & South-East Building Surveying team, applying your MRICS qualification, strong technical writing, and proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit to drive quality

Qualifications

• BSc in building surveying or equivalent.
• MRICS or equivalent professional status.
• Good technical writing and communication skills.
• Competent in AutoCAD or Revit; NBS knowledge beneficial.
• Experience in higher education, local government and healthcare sectors beneficial.
• Preferred experience in Party Wall and commercial dilapidations.
• Strong surveys, project management, clerk of works, repairs and maintenance.
• Knowledge of contract suites e.g. JCT/NEC.

Job description

Currie & Brown is seeking a talented Senior Building Surveyor to join our growing Southampton team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse and expanding portfolio of projects and clients throughout Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset, delivering services ranging from condition surveys and dilapidations, NEC Supervisor/Clerk of Works, through to employer’s agent and project management instructions. As part of our wider London & South-East Building Surveying team, you’ll be based in our friendly Southampton office, working in a supportive and collaborative environment with the autonomy to manage your own projects and clear opportunities for career development, working alongside our graduate and senior building surveying leadership team.

You’ll be part of a team delivering a full range of professional and project-related building surveying services across both private and public sectors. This includes design, specification, and contract administration, alongside traditional building surveys, dilapidations, and clerk of works duties.

Working closely with project leaders and colleagues, you’ll help ensure high-quality service delivery, support knowledge sharing, and contribute to successful client outcomes while helping drive our culture of innovation and excellence and helping shape our direction on offering a full range of building surveying services in our region.

The role – what is it we would like you to do?

• Delivering projects, commissions, and professional assignments from inception to completion across a broad range of traditional building surveying duties.
• Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects and liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control.
• Assist with the managing of client/project teams to deliver building surveying services profitably and on time.
• Visit sites to undertake surveys, visit construction sites, meet with sub-contractors, contractors, clients and other staff as required to deliver projects and undertake site supervisory services.
• Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner.
• Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner, meeting, negotiating and corresponding with clients to form strong and long-lasting working relationships.
• Support, mentor junior members of team at a relevant professional level.

What skills and attributes are we looking for from you:

• BSc in building surveying or equivalent.
• Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or equivalent professional status.
• Good technical writing and communication skills.
• Competent skills in the use of AutoCAD or Revit and NBS software beneficial.
• Experience in the higher education, local government and healthcare sectors beneficial.
• Preferred experience in professional building surveying services related to Party Wall and Commercial dilapidations beneficial.
• Significant exposure to, and good working relations with, private and public sector clients beneficial.
• Well-developed skills in the areas of surveys, project management, clerk of works, repairs and maintenance.
• Broad understanding and knowledge and application of contract suite e.g. JCT/NEC .
