Job summary

You will drive behaviour, attendance and engagement, while delivering enriching activities and pupil leadership opportunities within a supportive, inclusive school community.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting vulnerable pupils and implementing effective support strategies.
• Strong behaviour management, communication and organisational skills.
• Experience of managing colleagues or influencing practice to improve outcomes for pupils.
• Understanding safeguarding and SEND and awareness of trauma and neurodiversity.

What you'll be doing:

As our Behaviour & Pastoral Lead, you'll:

• Support pupils to develop positive behaviour, attendance and engagement.


• Work closely with families and other professionals to put effective support in place.


• Help pupils develop positive wellbeing and mental health.


• Provide guidance and support to colleagues to ensure consistent approaches across the school.


• Support the development and review of individual support plans, risk assessments and interventions.


• Use behaviour, attendance and other relevant data to help identify where additional support or intervention is needed.


• Support safeguarding across the school as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.


• Line manage members of the pastoral team.


• Help lead pupil voice and leadership opportunities through the Junior Leadership Team.


• Oversee pupil mentoring opportunities and support the school's programme of assemblies and enrichment activities.

About you

You're looking for someone who is approachable, organised and confident, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.

You’ll have experience of supporting vulnerable pupils and implementing effective support strategies, alongside strong behaviour management, communication and organisational skills. Experience of managing colleagues or influencing practice to improve outcomes for pupils is also important.

You'll understand the importance of safeguarding and SEND and have an awareness of how trauma and neurodiversity can affect a young person’s needs, behaviour and engagement.

Silverways School is an independent special school which supports children and young people with autism and associated learning needs. The school is set in the heart of the community in Enfield, North London.

The focus at Silverways School is on maximising every child’s potential to develop into a confident, resilient, and skilled young person who will make a positive contribution to society and live as independent a life as possible.

Silverways School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
